Daylight photodynamic therapy (PDT) was developed in Scandinavia. In 2015, a German company, Biofrontera, applied to the USA FDA for approval of its PDT therapy. PDT is one treatment modality for photodamaged skin and precancerous skin conditions by delivering continuous, low-level activation of protoporphyrin IX.

Daylight PDT is essentially pain-free and natural daylight contains the entire spectrum of important absorption wavelengths that result in Daylight PDT's effectiveness. Additionally, Daylight PDT can be performed at the patient's home or other location of choice instead of a physician's office. For more information on Daylight PDT, please contact us.
